Elder Wisdom Planning Committee Member

Elder Wisdom Planning Committee Members are life-long learners committed to positive aging and the importance of continued service to the community.  Committee members:

  • Are 55 years of age or older

  • Engage in an ongoing program of study together

  • Meet monthly for both continuing education and program planning

  • Are committed to developing programs and service opportunities that bring healing to families and to the community particularly in the areas of improving communication, fostering racial healing, understanding mental health issues and supporting families who are grieving.

  • Are committed to ensuring programs that enable people 55+ to record or write their stories

  • Share information about Elder Wisdom program events within their sphere of influence.

  • May, if interested, serve as facilitators or leaders for a particular event or series.

Community Liaison

Community liaisons represent the organization at meetings with important networking partners and report back the developments and findings. Our partners include the Colorado Center on Law and Policy, the Colorado Criminal Justice Reform Coalition, and Mental Health Colorado to name a few. Areas of potential involvement include:

  • Mental Health

  • Justice Involved Individuals

  • Affordable Housing

  • Unsheltered People

  • Positive Aging

  • Spiritual Direction

Community liaisons receive ongoing support and supervision and have the opportunity if desired to provide continuing education for other volunteers.

Social Media Assistant

Social Media Assistants help Restoring Connections to communicate more effectively with the broader public.  They are individuals active on social media willing to post information approved by the Executive Director.

Soul Care Provider

Volunteer Soul Care Providers are trained spiritual directors or interns in a spiritual direction program willing to be available in any of the following ways:

  • For spiritual direction with individuals, whether single appointments or an ongoing monthly relationship. 

  • As facilitators for spiritual direction/soul care groups.

  • As presenters for continuing education opportunities.

Soul Care Providers receive ongoing support and supervision.

soul care re-entry mentor

To be considered for the soul care re-entry mentoring program, the following requirements of Restoring Connections must be met:

  • Personal experience receiving spiritual direction and a commitment to receiving regular spiritual direction.

  • Completion of ONE of the following- formation/training program for soul care: chaplaincy training, ministry degree, experience in human services, counseling, or social work.

  • Active participation in the peer supervision group facilitated by Restoring Connections for Denver Women’s Correctional Facility Soul Care Providers.

  • Openness to background check and interview process including personal and professional references.

Technology requirements (Note: All program communications are via email)

  • Cell phone

  • Email (checked frequently) 

  • Basic proficiency with word processing (Microsoft Word)
